ROUND TABLE UKRAINE NOW: CHALLENGES AND OPPORTUNITIES WAS HELD IN NEW YORK ON OCTOBER 1

Within the contract with the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine, Magonova & Partners, with the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) support, held a round table discussion Ukraine Now: Challenges and Opportunities at the Penn Club of New York on October 1. The event was focused on a close dialogue between representatives of large American businesses and the Ukrainian authorities. The speakers of the event were: Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, acting Minister of Health of Ukraine Ulana Suprun, State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko, and Managing Partner of Ukraine Finance Partners Rodolfo Amoresano. Morgan Williams, President of the U.S.-Ukraine Business Council (USUBC) moderated the discussion.

Top managers of companies from infrastructure, investment and pharmaceutical sectors who are directly interested in investing in Ukraine became the round table participants. They found answers to their questions during discussion with the speakers. Among the guests were: Eli Lilly and Company, Stern International Bank, Broad Street Capital Group, WFUMA, Princeton Healthcare Alliance, Brown Rudnick LLP, Iris International Group. Consul General of Ukraine in New York Oleksii Holubov also attended the event.

The report of the Minister of Infrastructure concerned the potential and progress which have been already made in the development of the Ukrainian logistics system: ports, airports and railways. “This year has already been marked by historical events in the field of Ukrainian infrastructure with direct participation of the leading US companies – contracts between Ukrzaliznytsia and General Electric, agreements between UIA and SkyUp Airlines and The Boeing Company. What might seem a fantasy in 2016 became a reality in 2018. The Ukrainian market of transport services is becoming more and more attractive for investments”, - emphasized Volodymyr Omelyan.

“The transformation of the healthcare system in Ukraine is comprehensive. The country focuses its efforts on strategic procurement of medical services to the benefit of 42 million patients. This is a big challenge for the system, medical institutions, their management and doctors. We are at the beginning of a journey, and we are very pleased to enlist the support of international partners, experts and businesses. We must cooperate transparently, openly, and usefully”, - Ulana Suprun said.

During the event, the State Secretary of the Ministry of Information Policy of Ukraine Artem Bidenko introduced the brand #UkraineNOW, which embodies new approaches and structural reforms in all spheres of public life in Ukraine, and noted: “This is only the beginning of a long journey of representing the new Ukraine abroad. The unified brand is based on the concept of opportunities, the concept of a country without borders, a country of startups, a country where freedom is the greatest value for people”.

The roundtable moderator Morgan Williams emphasized the importance of direct communication between large American businesses and the Ukrainian establishment representatives to improve and accelerate business and investment.
