PRODUCTION OF ELECTRICITY BY ALTERNATIVE SOURCES IN EUROPEan countries

According to the Europe-2030 strategy, countries of the European Union should increase their electricity production from alternative sources of energy.

Based on data from the European Network Transmission System Operators for Electricity (ENTSO-E) the analytical department of the “Magonova & Partners” has analyzed the key figures of such countries as France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Germany and Austria. Austria has the largest percentage of alternative energy in total production – 76% (55.2 KGWh), followed by Spain – 41% (42 KGWh), Germany – 35% (287.5 KGWh), Italy – 31% (24.8 KGWh), France – 22% (41 KGWh), and Poland – 11% (5.8 KGWh). The main source of renewable energy for these countries is wind power plants (WPP) and biofuels.

For comparison, in Ukraine the generation of electricity from renewable energy sources (RES) is 11% (6.4 KGWh) of total production. According to the energy strategy of Ukraine until 2035, the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry plans to increase the percentage of RES in the structure of electricity production up to 25%.
